Dr. Maxim Powiada established his roots in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. There he began his undergraduate education studying Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan. During his 3rd year, he was offered early admission to the Doctorate of Chiropractic program at the University of Western States in Portland, Oregon where he received his Bachelor of Science in Human Biology and Doctorate of Chiropractic. As an evidence-based practitioner, a visit with Dr. Powiada will first consist of a thorough diagnostic examination or a performance movement assessment. When indicated, treatment using manual manipulation adjustments of both the spine and extremity joints, as well as exercise rehabilitation and soft tissue therapies will be utilized.
Treatment Dr. Powiada is Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Medical Level 2 Certified and incorporates the Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) into his diagnostic regiment. Dr. Powiada has advanced manual manipulation training from Tulip Seminars and the Motion Palpation Institute (MPI) as he was the lead student representative during his time in school. He has advanced rehabilitation training in Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) and the McKenzie Method (MDT). Dr. Powiada works with baseball players and is certified in pitching and hitting through OnBaseU. He is also fully certified in kinesiology taping, instrument assisted soft tissue massage and cupping through FMT.
Hockey Background Dr. Powiada is a former Canadian Junior A hockey player who had to retire due to several concussions. One highlight of his career was playing for Team Saskatchewan at the Canada Winter Games in 2011. He also competed at the Mac’s AAA Invitational midget tournament in Calgary, Alberta twice with his second appearance earning a tournament scholarship. He has been involved in playing, coaching, and working with elite hockey players for over 22 years. Dr. Powiada now enjoys training for Spartan Races. He qualified and competed at the World Championships in 2019 in Lake Tahoe, California. Outside of the clinic, you will find Maxim playing hockey at the Ice Den in Scottsdale, chasing the golf ball around the East Valley or tackling an awesome hike with his dog Russ.
